1. Harry had no middle name. His parents gave him the middle initial S to honor and please his grandfathers, Anderson Shipp Truman and Solomon Young.
2. Harry survived an assassination attempt.
3. His nickname was “give em’ hell Harry."
4. ”His motto was “the buck stops here.”
5. The 1948 election against Thomas Dewey was very close. Many people were sure he would lose. One paper, the Chicago Tribune was so sure that their headline read "Dewey Defeats Truman". Truman won, however.

1. As a young teenager, Eisenhower injured his leg, and the infection became so severe that doctors considered amputation. He was ultimately forced to repeat his freshman year of high school, but his leg healed completely.
2. He was a superstitious president, he always carried three coins with him for good luck.
3. He was responsible for adding “under God” in the pledge of allegiance.
4. He served in both World War I and II.
5.His family was very poor when he was a young child.
